  Funafuti is the definition of remote—landing on that airstrip right in town still feels surreal. The lagoon is stunning, but the lack of infrastructure means you’re basically on your own for entertainment beyond staring at the water. Locals are friendly but reserved, and while the pace is peaceful, it can tip into boredom if you’re not here to just disconnect. Food options are painfully limited unless you really love canned tuna and coconut. Worth seeing once, but don’t expect postcard-perfect island vibes—this is real, sparse Pacific life.
