Ordos felt eerily empty, like a city built for a population that never arrived. The wide, immaculate streets were almost deserted, and the towering modern architecture gave off a ghost-town vibe, as if no one ever moved in. Public transportation was sparse, and I ended up walking long distances because taxis were hard to find. The few restaurants I tried were overpriced for the quality, and the local cuisine felt watered down, lacking the authenticity I was hoping for. It’s hard to shake the feeling that the city was designed more to impress than to function—everything felt sterile and unfinished. Definitely not a place I’d rush back to.
