  Traffic in Malingao is next-level unbearable—gridlock starts early and barely lets up. Sidewalks are often blocked by vendors, forcing you to walk in the street with speeding motorcycles weaving past. Some areas near the river have that stagnant, trash-filled smell that sticks to your clothes. I got hassled a few times by overeager tricycle drivers who wouldn’t take no for an answer. The heat plus the noise and chaos made it hard to enjoy much beyond my air-conditioned hotel room.
