Makassar’s waterfront is buzzing with life—I spent hours walking along Losari Beach at sunset, watching locals fly kites and snack on grilled corn. The blend of Dutch colonial architecture and traditional Bugis houses gives the city a unique charm. The street food scene is incredible; I tried pisang epe (flattened grilled bananas with palm sugar) from a roadside vendor, and it was unforgettable. People here are so warm, always ready to share a smile or a story. Getting around is easy with the bajaj rides, though traffic can get hectic during peak hours. Makassar feels like a city that’s alive, with a rhythm and energy that’s hard to resist.
