  • The baklava here is next-level—thick layers of pistachio, syrup-soaked pastry, and a richness you won’t find anywhere else. Wandering the old bazaar, you can smell the spices before you even turn the corner, and the copper workshops still hammer out trays the same way they have for centuries. The locals treat you like a guest, not a tourist, insisting you try just one more piece of that baklava, and honestly, how do you say no? The Zeugma Mosaic Museum blew me away—seeing those ancient floors so perfectly preserved makes you feel like you’ve stepped right into history. And the mix of Ottoman-era stone houses and modern cafés along the narrow streets gives the city this great energy—old but never stuffy. Even the public transport was smoother than expected, with cheap dolmuş rides getting you anywhere you need. Gaziantep’s kebab spots grill the meat over open flames right on the sidewalk, and the aroma alone is worth the trip. Late nights here aren’t about clubs but about packed backgammon halls and tea gardens buzzing with laughter. Not many places pull off that perfect balance of warmth, history, and unbeatable food, but this city nails it.
