Konya is a historic city in central Turkey, known as the spiritual home of the Whirling Dervishes and the resting place of Rumi. With over 1.4 million residents, it's one of Turkey's largest cities, blending ancient Seljuk architecture with modern urban life. The city sits on the edge of the Central Anatolian Plateau, offering a gateway to Turkey's heartland.

Konya has this quiet, spiritual vibe that’s hard to ignore, especially around the Mevlana Museum—it’s serene but almost too subdued for my taste. The city feels like it’s stuck between its rich history and modernity, with pockets of charm but also a lot of bland, functional architecture. I tried the famous etli ekmek, and while it was good, it didn’t blow me away like I’d hoped. Public transport was reliable, though not exactly speedy, and the locals were polite but reserved—not the most welcoming if you’re looking for lively interactions. It’s worth a visit for the cultural depth, but don’t expect much in the way of energy or excitement.
