Fushun surprised me with its unique blend of industrial history and natural beauty. The coal mining heritage is fascinating, but the green spaces like the Fushun National Forest Park offer a peaceful escape. The locals were warm and curious, eager to share stories about their city’s transformation. I loved how affordable everything was—great street food and comfy hotels without breaking the bank. The mix of old Soviet-style buildings and modern developments gives the city an interesting character. Definitely worth a visit if you want to see a lesser-known side of China. The hot springs here are next-level—soaking after a day of exploring was pure bliss. Public transport was efficient, and I got around easily without any fuss. Try the local stewed dishes; they have this rich, hearty flavor you won’t find elsewhere. The city has this unpolished charm that feels real, not just set up for tourists. Would come back just for the laid-back vibe. Walking along the Hun River at sunset was one of my favorite moments—locals fishing, kids playing, and the city lights starting to glow. Fushun isn’t flashy, but it’s got heart. The mix of industrial grit and green spaces makes it stand out. Plus, the dumpling stalls near the night market? Absolutely unbeatable. A refreshing change from the usual tourist circuit.
