  Jiading surprised me with how green it is—parks everywhere, even a scenic lake right in the city center. The metro makes it easy to zip into Shanghai, but Jiading has its own charm with quiet, tree-lined streets and that slower pace you don’t expect so close to a megacity. The local xiaolongbao spots here are just as good as the famous ones downtown, minus the hour-long waits. Love how the new university campus blends modern design with traditional Chinese garden elements—unexpectedly peaceful for a district known for its auto industry.
