São Paulo is a city that never stops moving, and I love getting swept up in its energy. The food scene here is unreal – from tiny corner botecos serving perfect coxinha to high-end sushi spots that rival Tokyo’s best. Walking through Jardins district, the mix of brutalist towers and art deco buildings feels like an open-air architecture museum. Even the traffic jams have a rhythm to them – I’ve had some of my best conversations with Uber drivers here while crawling down Avenida Paulista at sunset.

1São Paulo is overwhelming in the worst way—endless traffic jams, streets packed with people rushing everywhere, and a constant layer of grime on everything. The metro is packed to the point of discomfort, and good luck finding a taxi that won’t overcharge you. Even the food, which everyone hypes up, felt overpriced for what you get—I had better feijoada in smaller cities for half the price. The sheer size of the place makes it exhausting to get anywhere, and after a few days, the concrete jungle just feels suffocating.
