The medina in Rabat feels so much more relaxed than other Moroccan cities – no pushy vendors, just locals going about their day. Wandering the blue-and-white alleyways near the Kasbah of the Udayas, I kept stumbling upon hidden cafés with mint tea views over the Bou Regreg River. The tram system is ridiculously easy to use and spotless – got me from the ruins of Chellah to the Hassan Tower in minutes. Something about Rabat’s mix of French colonial buildings and traditional Moroccan architecture makes it feel elegant without being stuffy.
