The mix of Afrikaans and local culture gives Pretoria a distinct vibe, especially in the markets where you can grab biltong or handcrafted souvenirs. Even the traffic feels less chaotic, though the minibus taxis still have their own rhythm. Weekends at the Hazel Food Market are a must—live music, craft beers, and that relaxed Pretoria energy where strangers end up chatting like old friends. Plus, the university crowds keep pockets of the city lively without losing that laid-back charm.
