The local trains are an experience—packed but efficient, and you get a real slice of Mumbai life riding them. Late-night chai at a random stall with strangers debating cricket is the kind of moment you remember. It’s not a city that tiptoes around you; it pulls you in and makes you keep up. Dharavi surprised me—not the poverty tour nonsense, but the sheer ingenuity of the small-scale industries there. And the street food? Unmatched.
