  • Valencia totally won me over with its perfect blend of old and new. The futuristic City of Arts and Sciences is mind-blowing—like walking through a sci-fi film set—but then you turn a corner and stumble upon charming plazas with centuries-old churches. The paella here tastes completely different from anywhere else, richer and smokier, especially at those little beachside spots where they cook it over orange wood fires. I lost count of how many times I got happily lost in the Turia Gardens—an old riverbed turned into this massive green belt full of cyclists and joggers. The locals have this relaxed vibe, never in a hurry, always happy to chat over horchata. And the best part? You get Barcelona-level beauty without the crowds or price tags. Those golden late afternoons by the marina, sipping wine while the water sparkles… yeah, I get why Valencians seem so content. The city just moves at this perfect unhurried rhythm where good food and outdoor living matter more than ticking off tourist sights. Already planning my next trip just for more of those lazy mercado mornings and sunset strolls past the Torres de Serranos.
