Tirana is Albania's vibrant capital and largest city, home to around 418,495 residents. Located in the heart of the country, it blends Ottoman, Italian, and communist-era architecture with a lively café culture. The city serves as Albania's political, economic, and cultural hub.

Tirana felt chaotic from the moment I stepped out of the airport—traffic was an absolute mess, with cars and scooters weaving unpredictably through intersections. The city’s mix of brutalist communist-era buildings and half-finished modern developments gave it a disjointed, unpolished feel. Even the Blloku district, known for its nightlife, was underwhelming—overpriced drinks in mediocre bars with pushy crowds. Public transport was unreliable, and walking anywhere meant navigating uneven sidewalks and aggressive street vendors. The food scene was disappointing too—lots of bland, overpriced tourist traps masquerading as traditional Albanian spots.
