Potosí, once called Villa Imperial de Potosí, is a historic city in Bolivia and the capital of its namesake department. Known for its colonial past, it sits high in the Andes at over 4,000 meters above sea level. This UNESCO-listed city was once one of the wealthiest in the world due to its rich silver mines.
