  Philadelphia surprised me in the best way. The historic streets around Independence Hall make you feel like you're walking through an open-air museum, but with surprisingly great coffee shops tucked between the brick buildings. I loved how walkable the city center is—skipping the subway and just wandering led me to some amazing street art and tucked-away cheesesteak spots. The mix of old and new architecture gives the city real character, and locals actually stop to chat instead of rushing past. Prices felt reasonable for a big East Coast city, especially compared to NYC or D.C.
