  • Wandering Brazzaville’s palm-lined boulevards along the Congo River feels like uncovering a well-kept secret. The Basilique Sainte-Anne’s copper dome shimmers in the sun, and the mix of French-colonial facades and vibrant murals gives the city a layered charm. People here greet you like an old friend—especially at the riverside braiseries where sizzling fish straight from the river arrives with cold Beaufort beer. The slow pace lets you sink into the rhythm of the place. The Marché Total’s labyrinth of stalls is pure sensory overload in the best way—heaps of bright fabric, baskets of fiery pili-pili peppers, woodcarvers shaping masks right in front of you. Even the taxi rides are an adventure, dodging potholes with reggae blasting. Brazzaville doesn’t shout; it hums, warm and unhurried.
