  • Barranquilla’s Carnival is pure energy—the colors, the music, the crowds dancing in the streets. I’ve never felt a party this infectious, where even strangers pull you into the rhythm. The cost of living is reasonable too—grabbing fresh arepas from street vendors won’t break the bank. The people here make the city. Locals welcomed me with warmth, always eager to share a joke or recommend their favorite spot for fried fish by the Magdalena River. It’s not polished like Cartagena, but that’s part of the charm—raw, lively, and unapologetically fun. I loved wandering past the faded pastel buildings in El Prado, imagining the city’s golden age. The mix of Caribbean and industrial vibes gives Barranquilla a unique edge—you won’t find this atmosphere anywhere else in Colombia.
