Bannu surprised me with its bustling bazaars and warm hospitality. The beef karahi from a small roadside stall near the main market was some of the most flavorful I've had in Pakistan—slow-cooked with just the right amount of spice. Locals kept insisting I try their famous chapli kebabs, and they weren’t wrong. The old city has this faded grandeur with traditional Pashtun-style homes, though I wish more of them were preserved. Public transport is basic, but shared rickshaws are an adventure and dirt cheap. Evenings along the Kurram River are peaceful, with families picnicking as the sun sets.
